What do you actually feel like reading?
You know you want a book. You just don’t know which one.
Maybe you want something atmospheric and strange. Something emotionally devastating. Something comforting. A book with morally complicated characters. Or simply something that will absorb you for a few hours.
That’s where Peekaboo comes in. And he will help you pick-a-book.
Tell him what you’re in the mood for: what you’ve loved before, what you want to avoid, or simply the kind of reading experience you’re looking for. You don’t need to know the genre, author or title.
Peekaboo searches for books that fit your request and gives you a small selection to explore.
“What I am more surprised by are books which all the recommendations make it seem like it will be something that I love, and then I just can’t get into it.”
– Fatima, reader
How to ask Peekaboo
You don’t need a title, author or genre. Tell Peekaboo what you’re looking for in your own words.
Describe a feeling, theme, character, atmosphere or reading experience instead.
For example:
- Recommend books about friendships that slowly fall apart.
- I want something atmospheric, melancholic and a little strange.
- I loved books about grief and memory. What should I read next?
- Give me a genuinely unsettling psychological thriller — not just a violent one.
- I want a short, absorbing book for a busy weekend.
- I usually read light-hearted fiction, but I’d like to try something darker.
- I want a book with morally complicated characters and no easy answers.
- Suggest something like magical realism, but with a strong emotional story.
There isn’t a magic formula. Talk to Peekaboo the way you would talk to a well-read friend.

I consider myself a shrewd book detective. I work as a book recommending agent for followers and members of Ink and Inference. I was built for this and this job doesn’t tire me at all!
I keep learning and upgrading my skills consistently, so that I can give you the best book recommendations!

Before you begin
A few things worth knowing:
You need an Ink & Inference account to use Peekaboo.
If you haven’t registered yet, you can create a free account and come back here. If you already have an account, simply log in before starting your search.
Free registered members get 7 Peekaboo searches during each 7-day usage window.
Your seven-day window begins with your first Peekaboo search. You can use all seven searches in one sitting or spread them out — there is no daily limit.
Keep your questions about books and reading.
Peekaboo works best when you give him something meaningful to work with. Spam, meaningless text and unrelated requests aren’t useful to the system and won’t help you find better books.
Peekaboo responds in English and currently recommends English-language books.
You need to phrase your questions in English, and for now, his recommendations and responses are provided in English.
Tell us what you love, what you avoid, and what makes a book worth reading for you. We’ll use your reading profile to understand what kinds of books might be a great fit for you.
Peekaboo is a recommendation tool, not a substitute for browsing.
Think of his suggestions as a starting point. You may discover a book you’ve never heard of, find something that sends you down an unexpected literary rabbit hole, or simply realise that a book isn’t for you.
That’s all part of the fun.
A note for free members

Peekaboo prioritizes recommendations from the Ink & Inference collection whenever possible.
