Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan – An Enjoyable Children’s Adventure Novel
Percy Jackson is a twelve-year-old boy who is aware that he is not like ordinary kids of his age. His father left him and his mother to go somewhere and never returned. His mother is deeply loving and his step-father is mean and annoying. He’s changed schools several times because he would be caught doing something unbelievable and the school would suspend him. In a quick succession of events, several shocking incidents happen: his best friend in school, Grover, is not human at all, his mother, Grover, and he fight a monster, his mother gets killed, and he has moved into a place for many other “different” children like him: he is not human; Percy is a half-God. In this children’s fantasy book, Percy discovers who he is, goes on a quest with his friends, and fights monsters and many evil forces. This is a fast-paced novel that would normally be quite enjoyable for children.
