Twilight Blade is a supernatural action Manga series that was published recently, in June 2026. A young boy named Hikari loses his mother in a mysterious fire. Mr. Yojin is an investigator and an exorcist who empathizes with Hikari and decides to adopt him or at least let the young boy stay with him. Mr Yojin feels that their team was responsible for the death of his mother, so he wishes to provide at least the basic needs for the boy. And Hikari feels as if he might be a burden on Mr. Yojin, so he feels guilty. This is a new turn of events for both of them, so this means that they both must adapt to each other.
Yojin, who is usually stoic and used to living alone, tries his best to change his personality around Hikari. Yojin leads double lives – as an investigator and an exorcist with superpowers. He drops off and picks up Hikari from school everyday, cooks for him, and tries to make him smile and to keep him happy. Hikari slowly grows fond of him and grows closer to him. What Hikari doesn’t know, being naive and innocent, is that he attracts many evil spirits for a harmless boy of his age. And each time Yojin an evil power trying to attack Hikari, he rushes in and fights it off, killing it and protecting Hikari. Hikari is unaware of all this. As an ordinary, young child, he cannot see these malevolent spirits; he cannot fully understand the sudden, strange moves that Yojin makes either. It’s as if Yojin is there one moment and he’s immediately gone and he again appears suddenly out of the blue. Even his classmates find Yojin to be shady and untrustworthy, but Hikari feels safe with Yojin.
Twilight Blade, known in Japanese as Awai no Enjin, mixes everyday ordinary events and domestic life with supernatural action. The found family bonding that Hikari and Yojin develop is what adds a strong sense of warmth and emotion to the action-centered plot. The more concerned and protective Yojin becomes and more nervous it makes him. He is often on the edge when it comes to watching out for alarming signs all around Hikari. To convince Hikari’s teacher and Hikari himself, Yojin lies that he hunts insects for a living. Such moments add a bit of humour as well. What started off as a professional exorcist and investigator trying to protect a young human being from evil forces, resulting in daily visits to the hospital initially, turns into a parent-child-like connection, where both Yojin and Hikari love one another. yojin will do anything within his power to protect Hikari. Manga action fans seem to love it. I’d give this a 3.5-star rating because sometimes the storyline feels repetitive across chapters but it is good otehrwise.
